Kroger Delta Coupon Policy | Mississippi (MS) 2011

We had the chance to meet up with some of the Delta Region management at our Spillway Store located out at the Reservoir in Brandon, MS this past weekend. Understand this is posted in the store as their Official Coupon Policy for Kroger Delta.

They informed us of the "new" Official Kroger Delta Coupon Policy and we were able to take a picture of the policy posted in the store.

To start, this is squarely aimed at Grocery coupons, Internet coupons, and (as they told me) coupon fraud. We were informed that people were copying coupons and they were trying to curb it. They felt behaviors like the ones they described is common amongst hoarding extreme couponers who have left the reservation and believe that fraud is OK when clearing a shelf. They did not feel that people like us who are doing their regular shopping and couponing were really going to be affected. I agree.

Below is the picture we took and the coupon policy translated into text for you to share.

  • Manufacturer E-coupons will redeem automatically when Loyalty Card is scanned and will not be doubled.
  • Manufacturers' Paper or Internet "Cents Off" coupons of 60 cents value or less will be doubled.
  • All other Manufacturer coupons will be redeemed at face value.
  • All coupon size and quantity requirements must be met and coupon must be in date.
  • Kroger will not double "Free" coupons, Kroger coupons, retail food store coupons or items prohibited by law.
  • Amount of coupon cannot exceed the cost of the items.
  • Only 1 Manufacturer coupon redeemed per item, maximum of 8 identical coupons doubled on any one order.
  • Paper Manufacturer coupons and Manufacturer e-coupons cannot be used on the same item.
  • Limit of 1 Kroger Coupon and 1 Manufacturer E-coupon per item. Total redeemed cannot exceed value of the item.
  • Catalina coupons are to be used on a future shopping trip.
  • Manufacturer Internet coupons up to $1.00 will be accepted.
  • "FREE" Manufacturers' Internet Coupons are not accepted.
  • We reserve the right to reject any Internet coupon that is altered or does not scan properly.
Our observations regarding the changes in the policy are below:
  • The E-coupons are a no-brainer. If you redeem coupons for $0.50 using your Loyalty Card, you are losing $0.50 versus using a paper coupon that would double to $1.00.
  • The $0.60 doubling is great to know. If you do load coupons using your E-coupons, make sure you don't load anything less than $0.60 to avoid leaving money on the table.
  • The maximum 8 identical coupons doubled is an interesting twist. It would appear that they are limiting hoarding behavior with this one. When an extreme couponer wipes out a shelf, they really don't think about the cost. Retailers have to deal with: restocking, order levels, inventory shelf life, shelf space considerations. Extreme couponers cost the retailer a tremendous amount when you consider the operational impact.
  • You will not receive OVERAGES! You cannot use overages to pay for other items. This is going to crush the hoarders who do clear shelves and make money to pay for their other items with the 70 mustards they bought.
  • The limit on Manufacturer Internet coupons is now $1.00; if you have a coupon over that amount use it at Walmart.
  • "FREE" Manfuacturers' Internet Coupons is a tricky one. They are essentially saying they do not accept certain Manufacturers' coupons while accepting others. Not sure how Consumer Products companies running Facebook promotions for "FREE" products will respond to this one. Again, go to Walmart.
  • They still allow stacking a Retailer and Manufacturers coupons. This is good news.
  • The rest are pretty much the same as we have always experienced.
